Project Description

Carlo Socrate (Mezzana Bigli 1889 – Rome 1967), View of the Cavour Bridge in Rome (1930)

Oil on canvas 47 x 61 cm signed lower right.

Provenance: Milan private collection.

INFO:  if you need more information

The work is prior to 1935, the year in which the Lungotevere Marzio changed profoundly with the destruction of the Collegio Clementino, still depicted in this painting, and the construction of new buildings by the architect Marcello Piacentini. This subject has been replicated several times by the artist as documented by these other 2 paintings: the first datable to the beginning of the 1930s while the second after 1939 in fact there are the new buildings by Marcello Piacentini.
