Project Description
Antonino Calcagnadoro ( Rieti 1876 – Rome 1935 ), Still life
Oil on canvas cm 69 x 95 signed, situated ( Rome ) and dated ( 1923 ) lower right. On the back, autograph inscription of the painter, dated ( 1923 ) and situated ( Roma ): “All’amico Carlini che tanto fece per me, i soli ( ? ) frutti”.
That of the still life is a theme that would be particularly suitable to the ease of the hand and the wiles of Antonino Calcagnadoro’s work. However not many are the easel paintings that present this iconography: for these reasons the painting shown here is configured as a rare example, adopted by the painter, of the recovery of a tradition rarely frequented by the Rieti artist’s palette.
